Everything you need to know about the Minca system

Socialization is the process of teaching a dog about the world it lives in. It is the key for a dog to be confident, curious, and engaged with its family in public. Socialization is a lifelong pursuit but is vitally important in the first 20 weeks of a dog's life (especially the first 12-16), when the dog's brain is rapidly developing and neural pathways are forming. Socialization sets the stage for successful training, enrichment, and daily life for dogs.

Socialization is very focused on managing dogs as they build generalized confidence through structured life experiences. Training targets teaching a dog to do specific behaviors through focused learning sessions. A leash designed for socialization adapts to the needs of the handler and the dog to ensure both can comfortably experience the world before training is achieved.

The Minca Field Leash is the first leash designed to help people advance their dog from on-leash pulling to loose-leash walking, without needing different equipment. It offers four attachment methods that advance the dog from 100% management to on-leash manners. It also offers two hands-free options for the ultimate in handler comfort and can be used for supervised tethering with most any object. This versatility is key during socialization but is also very useful for training and enrichment activities for the rest of the dog's life.

The length of the Minca Field Leash is 8 feet. We have found this to be the ideal length for fitting dogs and people of a variety of shapes and sizes. The leash can be as long as 8-feet and as short as 4-feet depending on how it is configured.

Devices that claim to "stop pulling" often do so at the expense and comfort of the dog and never allow the dog to progress in its training. Different dogs need different levels of feedback to teach them not to pull. The Minca Field Leash isn't designed to stop pulling, it is designed to give handlers the communication tools that are most applicable for them to train their dog not to pull and then to advance their dog along a progressive path to being loose leash trained.

The Minca Field Collar and Field Leash are blue because we wanted a color that was highly visible and that looked good without being Hi-Viz or reflective, a color that compliments the natural tones of a dog's coat. We also desired to make it easy for Minca members to find each other for socializing and training their dogs in public.

Of course! A well-behaved dog is the product of a lifestyle geared toward socialization, not a classroom where lessons in manners are taught and remembered. The idea of being in-field with your dog is the idea behind the name and design of everything we do.

Small and large dogs can both use the system. The height range for people is from 5'0"-6'8". At the outer limits of these numbers, some functions may be limited.

No leash, outside of a chain, is truly chew-proof or indestructible. Biothane is highly durable and designed to last for years with daily use in all weather, but the teeth of a determined dog will destroy any leash.

Biothane is naturally anti-microbial, so it tends to do a good job staying clean on its own or at least with a dry rag after a session. Cleaning it with water and soap is simple. Biothane dries in a matter of moments after being wiped off making it ideal for wet environments.
